About US

Cape Kayak Adventures is the home of sea kayaking on the Atlantic Seaboard and has been operating fun and safe kayak tours since 1995. We are based in the heart of the Marine Protected Area of the Table Mountain National Park in Cape Town, South Africa. We offer guided kayak adventures in the morning, at sunset and under the glorious full moon, weather permitting.

We love kayaking and the Cape coastline is a magnificent area in which to enjoy it. Come and explore the rich diversity of marine life, the kelp forests and a refreshing perspective of Cape Town and Table Mountain.

Our tours are suitable for all levels of experience, from beginner paddlers to seasoned kayakers. We provide all the necessary equipment, including kayaks, paddles and personal flotation devices. We use stable, two-person sit-inside kayaks, but you are welcome to join us individually too.

Cape Kayak’s guides are APA certified and our kayaks are SAMSA approved, so you are in the best hands. Our experienced and knowledgeable guides will teach you the basics of kayaking and lead you on a safe and enjoyable tour of the Cape Town coastline. We love sharing our passion with our guests!

About our tours

On our kayak tours, you will have the opportunity to see some of Cape Town's most iconic landmarks, including Table Mountain, Robben Island and the majestic Twelve Apostles Mountain Range.

You’ll paddle through time as we pass well-known shipwrecks like the RMS Athens, SS South African Seafarer, SS Thermopylae and De Schip – don't forget to ask your guides about them.

You may also encounter a marine mammal or two, such as our acrobatic and much-loved endemic Heaviside’s dolphins, Cape fur seals, southern right whales, humpback whales and Bryde’s whales. Sometimes, we are lucky and see ocean sunfish – Mola mola – due to the abundance of their favourites fare: jellyfish, zooplankton, crustaceans and algae. On rare occasions, we see orcas and Cape clawless otters.

The beauty of kayaking is: you never know what you’ll see when setting off on an ocean safari. It’s best to have no expectations, then every sighting is a welcome surprise!

Our Services

  • Morning tours: Our most popular tour. Although there are no guarantees (they remain wild and free), we are often graced with marine wildlife sightings on these tours.

  • Sunset tours: Enjoy picturesque views and a breathtaking sunset from the water.

  • Moonrise trips: Enjoy the tranquillity of the golden hour while we watch the moon rise over Table Bay and observe the city lights glow like fireflies.

  • Kayak guide training: We can help you get started if you have dreams of becoming a kayak guide.

Stunning tour! Very friendly staff in Tracy, Leander and Noah. I highly recommend it. 2 hours was long enough perfect timing. I went out to the boat that carried the containers amazingly. Saw a penguin! And a sunfish.
